How to transfer 1080p mov clips from Canon T3i to iMovie

“I record some video footage with my canon 600D, then I edit these video with iMovie, but when I import the T3i video to iMovie, the video is choppy and there are lags or skipped frames even when exported to 30fps.” 

It’s clear that the Canon 600D (T3i) is an extremely well-featured little camera that’s well beyond the traditional stripped-down ‘entry level’ fare, and indeed gives little away in terms of features compared to the EOS 60D. 

But H.264 MOV format is not good for editing in iMovie as the above importing problem. iMovie best format is AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) MOV format, the favorite editing codec of iMovie in advance. The Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) does not use temporal compression, so every frame can be decoded and displayed immediately without first decoding other frames.
